:: ABOUT THE ARTIST ::
Lynda’s background is in the production and management of graphic art projects for large corporations, advertising agencies and design studios
in Vancouver. She had a life-long passion for pottery but it wasn’t until 1992 after moving to the Falkland area that she started making it,
as her second career. She enrolled in the ceramics summer program at Emily Carr College back in Vancouver and since then attended many workshops
with internationally known potters, through the Potters Guild of B.C., Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts and Red Deer College.
She is past president of the Vernon Potters Guild, a member of the Potters Guild of B.C. and Crafts Council of B.C., on the Board of the Okanagan
Potters Association, and on the Board/Advertising Director for the Kelowna Clay Festival.
Her work always begins on the wheel. Her attention to detail and finishing are a signature quality of her work. The influence of native art from
many countries is evident in her incised blackware and in her burnished and smoke-fired vessels.
Collectors of her pottery include the former US President Bill Clinton. During his visit to Kelowna in 2006 he purchased two of her smoke-fired pots
while shopping in a local art gallery. One of her smoke-fired pieces has been chosen to be in the National Exhibition, Canadian Pavillion at the
Cheongju International Craft Biennale in Korea in September 2009. Another was selected for the fine craft exhibition at the Vancouver Museum during
and in celebration of the 2010 Olympics.
