Colour is my inspiration. One of my first shawl warps was purple, fushia and red for the rhododendrons I saw on the Sunshine Coast. I wear fall colours and warp with those colours at least once a year. My warps contain cotton, acrylic, and novelty fibers in related colours that blend into each other. The weft is most often rayon chenille for the lovely soft texture. Each shawl is woven in a different shade so no two shawls, or ponchos, is the same. Recently I have been adding weft stripes in related or neutral colours.
I learned to weave in Prince George in 1990. I weave mainly scarves and shawls, often turning the shawls into ponchos and other coverings. I also sell the weaving yarns I use and occasionally teach a beginners class. I have been selling at craft shows, and at stores in Chase, Gibsons Landing, and Mission, and at the Kamloops Courthouse Gallery.
